In wood processing, heating and drying processes must be optimized to produce durable, high-quality products with minimal energy consumption and high machine speeds.
In order to achieve a significantly more energy efficient production and higher machine speeds in the following areas:
We use our unique MICOR *NIR Reflector System, which dries and heats compactly with practically loss-free efficiency, allowing it to completely replace existing hot air systems with less energy input.
How it works:
Our infrared dryers transfer heat contactlessly and precisely to the area where the energy is needed. With very high power at minimal radiator area and working widths, they can efficiently heat and dry films prior to lamination, edges during postforming, or minifase coatings without damaging the wood.
Installing our infrared heaters into your existing wood processing system is easy due to their compact design. Our infrared heaters provide a gentle, energy-saving and highly effective way to heat and dry floors, door frames, furniture fronts, countertops and HPL decors.
MICOR represents 45 years of market and technology experience. Our products are continuously refined and utilize our unique MICOR *NIR technology, which features instant on/off capability, eliminating the need for preheating or cooling times. Our products are ATEX certified and comply with EU regulations.
Our infrared drying systems are precisely tailored to the power and size requirements of your wood processing application and can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems.
Are you unsure which infrared solution is right for your application? Contact us! We offer free, no-obligation consultations.
Our infrared systems are specifically tailored to your process, the materials used, and the desired end product, and can be used either as an additional drying solution or as a stand-alone system. The result is improved performance, higher quality and greater efficiency in wood processing operations.
Problem: In the production of laminate flooring, the edges are sealed with a water-based coating that needs to be dried. The previously used hot air dryer with a total power of 56 kW was not energy efficient enough and additional expenses of 32,500 € per year were incurred for a compressed air blower.
MICOR solution: Installation of a MICOR *KIR drying system consisting of 8 KIR tube emitters type LE with a tube width of 4 mm.
Result: Infrared drying reduced the energy consumption by 70% and eliminated the blow-off costs.
Problem: Our customer wanted to convert the postforming process from hot air to the more energy efficient short wave infrared (NIR) technology and phase out the existing hot air systems.
Result: Replacing the hot air dryers with our elliptical NIR heaters, which feature a high energy 4mm wide burner band, resulted in an impressive 70% energy savings compared to hot air heating. In addition, the MICOR heaters require 50% less space than standard infrared heaters because their elliptical shape allows for precise heating of the postforming edge.
Problem: During the winter months, boards arriving just-in-time for processing in the wood industry often do not reach the required processing temperature due to low outside temperatures.
Result: Our MICOR *NIR cassettes use precise infrared radiation to quickly adjust the temperature of the boards, achieving the required room temperature of 25°C in a matter of seconds. This temperature-controlled preheating process ensures reliable production and minimizes downtime by maintaining a consistent processing temperature.
